interlude

interlude

A Poem by sofia
"

first time sharing any of my writing! would love feedback

"

I turn the porch light off

After months of bright nights

in the house I built for you

I listen to the crickets soothe the grass into sway

And realize the stars never left the sky

I will lay in bed for a while in the soft gauzy darkness

Watch the ceiling unafraid of the thoughts

that used to make my mind swallow itself

I will lock the door and climb from the window

Land silently into the tall grass look at my pale hands

They are mine now in the forgiving moonlight

Summer air kiss me kindly as

Licked lips and wide eyes meet the expanding night

In my ears there is a light that never goes out

Soles of bare feet to the overgrown ground

One and then the next

One and then the next

Step and step softly

Unobserved girl

slips away into infinity
