Addiction

Addiction

A Poem by Sage Kallen

Love is a fools game
Yet one that no man can deny the power
Love is weakness an yet nobody can speak against a Love that moves mountains
I dreamed of such Love as a child one that everyone spoke of but was rarley found
Now i have come to find I'm far to sick to dream of an old Love of mine

I have fallen to despair the shadows that lurk in my room
They whisper sweet nothings and cradle me in the grief like a warm tomb
I find comfort in their lies
And truth in their hurt
If love does not pierce my skin
If love does not make me hurt
Then I'd much rather live without it
I am an addict for the suffering you bring
Oh selfish love of this life
I'll coddle these agonizing feeling allowing blood to seap through the teeth of my darkest thoughts

It was you oh despair who held me
It was you loneliness that never wavered or left me
I find I can see nothing without you

How can I show hope to the lives I'm entrusted when I so throughly see through your eyes
Cradle me oh misery of mine
Maybe some day I'll see light
Maybe one day I will breathe through soft breathes rather than she rasping shallows gasps I take as your hands straddle my neck
But this euphoric high is unlike any I can come by
I bask in this addiction and let it corrupt my life
