Paper Plane

Paper Plane

A Poem by Sage Kallen

Paper Plane

There once was a place you lived so far away,

and although I couldn’t say these words, upon you I prayed.

Hoping this letter would find you before my last day.

You searched for me from the prison, you could not have strayed.

These notes we passed along the sky,

but knowing someday I’d have to say goodbye.

My life was fading so if this must be the last time,

I will write to you, so live this life until you too must die.

Black ink spills along these pages as blood on a battlefield.

Cries fill the air as the words speak harsh truth,

I long for the end of this suffering and agony.

This prison that seeks my life and keeps me from thee.

These letters are all I hold dear, yet they be the death of me,

So I rest knowing tomorrow we shall meet again, through paper planes in heaven.
