Maybe, Let, While, a Questioning Hope

Maybe, Let, While, a Questioning Hope

A Poem by Sage Kallen
"

Just a dorky poem.

"
You flickered through the thoughts in my head,
dancing across memories and wishes unread.
The words you speak edged their way into my very being,
please don't leave me here envying.
Your touch is soft and gentle when your words hold no sincerity.
Your eyes capture my soul to let you in,
but I beg you not to follow,
for then you would not be with me here.
I can't help but to turn and break your gaze,
whenever your eyes seek mine.
To whisper my heart's desire is death,
so, for now, let me keep this secret.
While you continue to dance through my thoughts,
while I long to stand closer,
while I allow you deeper into my heart, even though it will shatter.
I can't help it since you were the one who asked first.
So all for the while let me indulge in this captivating game that tears my soul apart.
Let me wish for something I have never sought.
Let me wander these questions through the deepest corners of my head,
so that when the day finally comes I will speak truth with death,
So you might understand this feeling inside, and maybe just maybe, you won't leave my side.
That hope alone keeps me alive.
