The Escape

The Escape

A Poem by Sage Kallen
"

A place the heart feels it does not belong will end with a wandering spirit.

"

The Escape

If I could leave and run away, I’d go through streams not so far away.

If I could go and never stray, then I’d fly to towns across the lake.

I’d never turn my back or stay, but to a distant land, I’d wander away.

This is my truest wish and deepest dream, to flee to places so far between.

To travel till I no longer sing.

To find the path so un for seen.

To trace my fingers across the sky, and paint this canvas of my life.

To find the place where I belong.

Somewhere not so far beyond,

but for now, I cannot say.

That I could travel so far away.

So in my mind, I will so keep this dream, made for only me.

For the place that I belong cannot be found on this earth, but beyond.

Here I'll stay until I sleep,

Then I can truly slip away into my fantasy.
