the struggle to trust people these days, the struggle to know they won't betray you

Censoring my words
For certain prying ears
How can I be sure
Betrayal wont repeat itself
Some secrets
Aren't meant to be heard
And definitely not
Spread around
Things have a habit
Of coming full circle
Numerous times
It's come back to bite me
I try to stay
Within my own boundaries
Avoid lines
Not meant to be crossed
But if my foot
Steps over that line
How can I be sure
Your standards aren't double
Suspicious of everyone
Trusting no one.

I don't trust certain people for jack s**t. They have the nerve to spread things around when they don't know what your life is like. I loved reading this. I can relate, but I think everyone has trust issues to a point. I mean what are people saying about you behind closed doors? That's what goes around in your mind. Thanks for sharing. :D

I can definitely relate to this poem, I have trust issues too. People who I tried to become friends have let me down so much, and I find it hard to be positive about society. It just seems like so many people are fake nowadays; they'll act like they're interested in you when they're really not. "How can I be sure your standards aren't double" was my favorite line. You put the topic of trust issues in words really well, awesome job :]
