The rabbit and the butterflyA Poem by C.C. Marxfor a nonsense competition...enjoyA woods full of gum drops A river full of bees Dirt as sweet as honey And sugarcoated leaves. I was chained to a fig tree As a butterfly danced by It sang a song of silly turnips And sweet apple pie.
Oh butterfly I say As you can see I’m stuck I’m late for a party That is hosted by a duck. Could you be so kind To find go and fetch help You can find my friend Lulu A panda in the Alps.
The butterfly smiled And bared its fangs at me It hit me with a frying pan And left me by the tree. A large red bump Rested upon my head I wished only to be back In my turtle bed.
Along came a rabbit Wearing a purple suit His shoes were clean and polished But he was missing his left boot. Oh rabbit I cry Please help me so I’m missing the elephant pastries And the fantastic Russian show.
The rabbit laughed And shook his furry head He kicked me in the stomach With his boot made of lead. So there I sat Weary and alone All because yesterday I had lost my kangaroo phone. © 2012 C.C. MarxAuthor's Note
