A girlA Poem by C.C. MarxA personal poem to me.A girl Who never knew her place Who didn’t always have the “right” friends Who did things her own way Who read much more than the others Who was very quiet Who was sometimes excluded on sports teams Who was frustrated with the social pyramid Who was through with being different Who would rather stand in the shadows Who was emotionally guarded Who often worried about embarrassing herself Who had trouble being herself Who struggled getting close to people Who often pushed people away Who was an occasional “opportunist” This was who she was.
Now she is a girl Who is figuring out her place Who is trying to be a better friend Who is working on staying positive Who is breaking her walls down Who is becoming herself Who is not worrying over every mistake Who is accepting she can’t change things So she should learn to deal with them.
That is who I was. Whether I like it or not, I am who I am, And this is who I’m going to be. © 2012 C.C. MarxAuthor's Note
