Expectations

Its more of a short story than a poem

You expect me to do a lot...

but i can only do so much. You expect me to

do my best and always try my hardest but

sometimes my best isn't exactly what you want.

I'm expected to have a duty; a sense of purpose,

but suppose I didn't have one . . .

What would you do then? Another,

"You know what I expect" speech? Well I'm doing

the best, the best I can, but unfortunately for me

you can't see it and still want more. I wish,

that for one day, you wouldn't expect so much

from me. That for once you'd let me be. I know

it's not ideal, especially for you, but it's my

one wish . . . my only wish!
