The Band

The Band

A Poem by Scott S
"

This was written at the prompting of a dear friend, and she provides the inspiration for the character. She knows who she is.

"

Along the street- a frosty morn
Lovely woman with graceful form
Taps her feet upon the ground
The marching band has come to town
Melody floats along the breeze
The sound of trumpets in the trees
She shivers in the brittle cold
Hair of flaxen -horns of gold
Stately sound does fill the air
Happy people everywhere
Smiles bright on the face of lads
Moms and sisters-sons and dads
She’s softly clapping to the beat
Of thunder rolling down the street
The town is filled with perfect sound
The marching band has come to town.

Oh this is wonderful, wonderful!

The meter really suggests the band music's rhythm .. each line creates a picture, even the font's colour lends something to the scene you've created!

' She's softly clapping to the beat / Of thunder rolling down the street / The town is filled with perfect sound / The marching band has come to town. '

Those lines truly extend the band's movement and the onlookers delight!

Bravo!
