The Mystic IslesA Story by RachelSent off to live with an eccentric great aunt, could life get any better? Maybe with a mysterious forest, a big secret and a boy with sea green eyes thrown in could help...Clouds, clouds and yet more clouds. Endless rows of fluffy white clouds stretching across acres, settle in the deep blue sky. I gaze at them, mesmerised, until my vision is blurred by various shades of white and blue. The plane must be thousands of metres into the air. Many would find this exciting, even enthralling, but I was in too much of a traumatised state to notice this. Most people would find a better way to spend a rather sunny Saturday afternoon but then again, it's not every day both your parents die so suddenly in a raging fire which destoryed my entire home and left a huge hole in my heart, beyond repair. Being sent halway across the world... It sounds like an adventure. But staying with an eccentric aunt who still acts like she's in another century? No thanks. I check my rucksack. Some kind of wholemeal sandwich, a bottle of water and a magazine filled with pictures of kittens and puppies, the sort of thing I would have bought when I was six. I flick listlessly through the magazine, hardly taking in anything that it's saying. I toss the magazine aside with a heavy sigh. What had I done to deserve this fate? Southern Calafornia... well that might as well be a different planet as I concerned. Losing my family was bad enough. Losing my friends as well? I might as well slit my wrists. © 2011 RachelAuthor's Note
