You knocked on my heart

You knocked on my heart

A Poem by Toya Marie

I left you when I was mad even though I’d be alone
And when you knocked on the door I acted as if I wasn't home
But I couldn't fool you Lord, you knew that I was there
And when it got too late you didn't go home
Because you knew your home was in my heart,
But still-
I wouldn't let you in,
But you caught me off guard Lord,
When I needed you most
You started to knock harder
And I gave up
And I opened up the door
And you stood there,
At the porch
With your arms open wide
And before I caved completely
Into what seemed too good to be true
I stopped and said
“You knocked on my heart
And when I said I wasn’t home
You still knocked
And you never gave up on me
So Lord I must ask you-
Why didn’t you leave”
And all you said was
“I love you that’s why-
You are my child,
And ill never leave you alone”
So I went with you into your arms
And you never let me go-
Forgave my sins,
And never left me alone
