Proud To Be HatedA Poem by snow_angelSomething I actually did in high school and I have no regrets.
The Day of Silence, for those who don't know,
Is a day to speak out without speaking, To support those of various sexual orientations. On this day I walked the crowded high school halls, While students stared in shock, At the bright purple lettered sign upon my chest. "Proud to be bisexual." it read, Many chose words of profanity in response, While others held their tongues. But I didn't care what they said or did, Nor did I care when my friends ignored me, Or when my mother suddenly forgot she had a daughter. I wore a somber smile of joy, Not wanting to hide behind a straight mask, And pretend, just for their liking. © 2014 snow_angel |
