Joie De Vivre

A Poem by Kirke Nix
"

It hurts to see you so alive, While I lay so dead and cold

"

Behind the broken door
On this shattered glass floor
We lay in sync
With the beats of a
Dying clocks heart
Ticking this away
This sanity kept at bay
Smiles stretched out perfectly
Gleaming white so bright
It almost burns our eyes
Im singed from the flames
Of fingertips
That can feel so deeply
While Im here
Feeling nothing
Oh,
Youre so beautiful
The way you shine
You glow
With something Ive
Never known
Brilliance emanating
Puncturing, bruising
It hurts to see you so alive
While I lay so dead and cold
But God
Its just so beautiful
The way you lie
Lets pretend this is something real
For a moment
Touch me with your radiance
Teach me how to melt
Lead me on,
Please,
Pretend with me
That all this is really
Leading up to something
As beautiful
As you are

Teach me how to glow

So

Im never too far behind you

Youre always so happy

To be alive
