Google Doc - word processor text download as PDFA Chapter by snickerdoodleI've found it helpful to use Google docs for converting text into PDF, which enhances sharing capability via email while upgrading the doc's appearance as user friendly pseudo "book" or book page. This can be particularly handy if creating your own e-book for direct sales (using PayPal or Google's merchant/product sales feature). For multimedia PDF books, I've only embedded YouTube videos with text into a PDF. What happens is if writer does copy/paste of a video image into Google presentation, the video will play in the presentation without redirecting to YouTube. However, when the doc or presentation is downloaded as a PDF, the video image does remain intact; but it's a still image representation that when clicked for play, redirects to the YouTube site. For example, if the writer is trying to create an e-card PDF, keep this in mind when positioning text (bottom) because the reader will leave card and jump to YouTube (presentation) or open YouTube in new window (text doc). Writers can create a light web page with video, links to uploaded docs, spreadsheets, publish, and essentially create a type of e-card, which can be emailed. When in Doubt, Do (PDF) Google text doc does not allow embedding or inserting YouTube. Video inserted using YouTube video search, then click drag cursor to select video from listed videos, for copy and paste into Google text doc. The video is image is small, to activate video, user must click video song text not image. Text hyperlinks work per usual. Text document created. Downloaded as PDF. Uploaded with deactivation of default to convert uploaded docs to Google format, thereby retaining PDF format. PDF was then released to Internet using Share button, set share settings to Public option because Publish to web function was not an option. Sharing can be reserved for select viewing and editing as well. The URL share link was then placed into free URL shortener TinyUrl.com (other shorterners include popular bit.ly). I went with TinyUrl because the site offered custom requests if available and had good suggestion of how URL shortener is practical to hide that a URL identifies as an affiliate link. Thus, shortening the link is both practical solution to lengthy, unsightly URL and can provide business bonus. At times I've not clicked on a link that I can see has and identification code tagging it as an affiliate link. I do not give affiliate credit if it seemed like the affiliate tricked me into visiting a website. Another good suggestion by TinyURL is that once a home page URL is shortened, you can then use that modified URL to shorten the sites other pages. Modify that shortened URL by adding a forward slash followed by the file name of the web page target. The shortened URL can then be used in your writing. To stay organized, you might want to archive that short link in Google contacts, include short link, published and or shared link. In the notes section you can cite where you placed the writing on the Internet, including archiving website link(s) in that contact e-card. Contact cards can be downloaded and emailed.
