Colors

A Poem by PerpetuallyJune

Red

Anger and hot, smoking rage
Tongues of flame and a fiery haze
Passion unkempt and unreserved
Harsh bitter flecks stain our words
It comes, it lingers, it burns
In the hearts of those left to yearn.

Yellow

Hope and joy wrapped in a hue
Shining, singing, speaking the truth
Daisies and daffodils all in bloom
Tinting the edges of the moon
It douses us in citrus-flavored gold
Warms our souls as our days unfold.

Green

Life in the leaves of trees
Fresh and crisp and openly free
Welcoming and nurturing and lush
Reflected in the dewy morning rush
It brings balance to all our eyes touch
Flavors the air we breathe as such.

Blue

Solemn and mellow and cool
Embracing fish in a deep old pool
Comforting and kind yet distant
Lurking in our thoughts some instants
It tells the truth and speaks no lies
Awakens our bodies and our minds.
