The Grand SchemeA Poem by PerpetuallyJuneOn love and its pure devotion
In the grand scheme of things,
Maybe my arms aren't very effective In protecting you from the world. In the grand scheme of things, Maybe my embrace won't mean much If the world decides to end. But I'll hold you anyway, If it means you can catch your breath, If it means we'll be together for just a while, If it means I can take the killing blow for you, If it means you know I adore you. In the grand scheme of things, You'll need a roof over your head And a blanket to cover your toes. In the grand scheme of things, My hands can't shield much of the rain And my sweater can only keep you so warm. But I'll be your home anyway, If it means you can find sanctuary in my arms, If it means we can pretend things are okay, If it means I'll fall to pieces instead of you, If it means you know I love you. © 2015 PerpetuallyJune |
