Fallen

Fallen

A Poem by snapjack

I stand and watch in silence

Unable to test death’s power

The woman fumbles to the ground

Like a corpse being lowered in the grave.

We come and flock together

Some just to get a better look

The burn in me tells me to go to her

But I am not allowed to listen

The woman coughs and spits

Her body shakes with despair

She pleads to me to help her

She pleads with him to take her

We stand and watch in silence

Waiting for her moment to come

The woman falls to the ground

Fingers only inches from the phone

She arises again once more

We move in to help her

Get to the gates of pearls
