We're All Running out of Poetry

We're All Running out of Poetry

A Poem by Stefon Napier

We're all running out of poetry
inscribing pale imitations of words
to the left of our hearts.
I wonder if I can ever see
the white from the dark again.
It only appears to fade into the distance.
The sky I'm facing will never end,
no matter where I watch it from.
Peeking at it from a thin alleyway,
a glimpse of it in the blur of city lights,
or over the shoulder of a nocturnal friend,
it only appears to fade into the distance.
We're all running out of poetry to
close the gap between this future,
and the one after it.
It only appears to fade into the distance.

A great addition to this series friend. I really like the "Nocturnal friend" bit. Keep this going, I think our book is finally writing itself don't you think?

Nice flow of thoughts my friend.

I believe words are safe. Relationships are more difficult. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
