![]() What We Live ForA Poem by Stefon Napier Your voice is pushing too hard Trying to give birth to my dreams In this world of walls and fences I’m constantly climbing Weighed down by joy and error Some where a clock breaks and time passes on Leaving you in common with everything We cannot fight for the ending if everything was equal to begin with Now having seen this permanent world And almost dying in it what should we clench our fists for If the truths of time are stagnant Your voice is pushing too hard Trying to give birth to my dreams In this world of walls and fences I’m constantly climbing Weighed down by joy and error My grip slips and I collapse Slumping against the wall Your voice is that close My fingers close to a ball Getting up slowly I begin to walk Defying walls and fences I’ll get to you Weighed down by nothing but myself © 2012 Stefon NapierAuthor's Note
