The Difference Between Twigs and Fire

The Difference Between Twigs and Fire

A Poem by Stefon Napier

In Older days, green, grand and redwood high

Born of earth and blooming

Humbly thin, tenaciously stout

Pride of the oak

Holding on to growing dreams

The pregnancies of spring

Old brown fond memories

Resting among cracked leaves.

Licking always tasting none

Fierce but always faltering

Angry zest, a spicy ire

Persisting but never living

Like the kind that carry hatred at all times on their souls

Amazing use of the language. Using nature and strong statements making your point. This is my favorite type of poetry. Must break down each line and grasp each meaning. I like the strong ending to the outstanding poem. Thank you.
