Looking straight into my eyes,

telling me nothing except lies.

Needing time for me to think,

meanwhile you have another drink.

 

Everyday is the same thing,

never even wear your ring.

All we do is bicker and fight,

who cares which point is right.

Bitter words you so speak,

any given day of the week.

Your fist stricks against my skin,

we should never have been.

Oh, wow. This is so powerful and intense. In addition, it hits so very close to home. I have been on both sides of the coin, and you articulated this side so well. The frustration and brick wall that you come against seems insurmountable. And it is. It is always "their" choice, and nothing about what the addict or alcoholic does is in any way your fault. Bless your heart, save yourself - cuz you can't save the addict or alcoholic - no matter what you do. They have to save themselves first.
