Happily Never After

Happily Never After

A Poem by Joe Butler

Im starting to think my telephone is broken,
Because all I ever hear is static,
I know your on the other end of the line,
So why cant your words match it,

Lonely chairs scatter the once lived in flat,
Echoes of rows and why and how's,
Coathangers ripped from the closet door,
No compass but it's gone south,

Ocassional shuffles to the shop for bits,
Walking too slow to see the sun,
I'd live in the doghouse for the rest of my life,
If it I could get back what has gone,

Tears get lost in morning showers,
Bus trips thinking I saw you,
Traffic lights, tragic fights, passive trite,
I'm not here just passing through,

Weight of the world pales in comparison,
To the weight of words unsaid,
Smiles and nights of everything fine,
Sleeping on an ex couples bed,

Maybe I should be glad,
Sick of being mad,z*
Maybe I should be glad,
Sick of being mad,

I know I won't see you again buts whats harder
'Is we'll just live happily never after

Very good poem! I can feel the emotion behind the piece. It's never easy losing someone you love.
