CAN YOU DENY

CAN YOU DENY

A Poem by JENY
"

wrote for devon's contest

"

CAN YOU DENY?

Never ask me to be lenient

Call me a stoic…

Yes tide and I never stop

For a man…

Even the sun that dawns upon me..

Obeys me…

Then

How can this manmade city..

Mock me….?

Can it speed..

Without looking up

Into my unblinking dry eyes

That never bats its lashes

It is in my tick ticking….

This world moves

Can you deny?

I am the Mr universe

As long as human mind is alive

It is in their illusion

I thrive…!!!

The last line is a gem. An interesting impression of Big Ben as the monument of Old Father Time; just the same as all clock towers that are landmarks in everyday life to so many people. And yet, as the poem implies, Time ironically stands still for this clockwork obelisk while everything around rushes on, oblivious to the fact that this rushing is the movement of Time itself. How Time silently and all-powerfully presides over life.
"Even the sun that dawns upon me..
Obeys me…
Then
How can this manmade city..e "
Mock me….?"
The answer to this lies therein. Good work.

PS. "sped" should be "speed"
