CYCLE OF COLORSA Poem by JENYA mother to her daughter…CYCLE OF COLORS I was not color blind I could see your rose cheeks That blushed…… At each step of you, the toddler I could see the milky whiteness That sprouted on your gums To embellish your naive happiness With milk teeth, jasmine buds…. I could see through the redness Of your adolescent restlessness Seething in rebellion To yourself and your mother, me.. I never pretended that I didn’t see The blues of desperation That rocked you mercilessly When your first love crushed into pieces It was when you stood beaming.. In your yellow gown for betrothal I tasted the meaning of the word Complacency that I
learned decades ago Separation from a daughter Creates brown rings around her mother Inside it she feels hollow and burden less A queer blend of pain and satisfaction.!! In this evening
of my life A lonely widow inside a colorless life I am waiting for an invitation from the God Who is beyond the colors of life.. All these colors are.. Mere stokes from His magic brush He wipes and cleanses the screen, very often Experiments with new colors and their hues My dear girl.. You were my life’s splendor and luster, Miracle of changes in you beside me.. Created a rainbow of liveliness around me Today…. In this finishing moments.. I bequeath you this poem.. A memory of colors of a life We shared together, painted together.. Read it when you start feeling.. That, colors of life … Has begun to fade… © 2010 JENYReviews
