GANDHI IN SECRET POCKET

GANDHI IN SECRET POCKET

A Poem by JENY
"

Paradoxes in honoring the father of Nation. Gandhi

"
Boy: I hate Gandhi
      Why?
He is on the 500 Rs Indian money.
       So?
       He smiles...
       So what?
I saw 500Rs note in the
       Secret pocket of the pimp...
       Who took my mother away...
       When I was fast asleep.

The poem had a purpose. I believe Gandi would not want his face on a bill of money. I like the story in your poem. Take talent to write a story in so few words. Thank you.

Umm.....
I expected something else again because of your description.. Shouldnt it be on the 500 rupee note?
But that aside I still feel this is degrading Gandhi's image.. If ur going to highlight the paradox, highlight the mom or the pimp this boy saw..

nice poem, I love the idea. im assuming 500rs is the bill that gandhi is on. Its not very elegent to say, five hundred r s. Even in free verse, the music of the poem is important, how it flows. I wonder if you could play with syntax, to make some of the lines more interesting. Of course it is supposed to be a dialogue, and it is a powerful enough idea that it might not be the point to worry so much about the music of the language. Its up for you too decide.
