             FROM SURFACE TO SILENCE

Everybody prefers surfaces to depths. Nobody is ready to take pains to delve into inner layers. Take the case of an average student who constitutes majority of the population of a class room. He touches on the surface of knowledge and pick out what will help to answer questions in the examination hall and he thrusts all those he got into his memory. In his memory bits of knowledge floats like indigestible solid materials that are reluctant to get assimilated into his life. Knowledge is unable to get permeated into his life , into his soul. Thus, basically a civilized learned man is at par with an uncivilized and unlearned man. Striking fact is that , often learned man is inferior to unlearned man in situations where practical wisdom counts.

Art of delving deep into the depths of things is a fact given to a man who is dis-satisfied with superficiality. For this dis-satisfaction to arise individual should have a feeling that more and more valuable things are in the depths of matter.

In the University of life , a growing person masters this art of going into the depths when he confronts with the shallowness of superficiality.

In the depths it is silent. Silence is the weapon with which we dig into the depths. One who can sit with silence as his sole companion can go into depths more easily and successfully. Today’s generation knows not what is silence. Inner silence that pervades the mind and calms its clutters is alien to today’s youth. He is an illiterate as far as science of silence is concerned. Only those who are bold enough to look into ones own nakedness can befriend silence. Otherwise he is in constant argument with himself.

                               Silence is my mother

                               Silence is my lover

                                Silence is my prayer.

From the Womb of silence I came

Into the silence I have to dissolve

                 Today or tomorrow…

i think the style of your prose fails here, and it is grammatically incorrect.

heres how i would fix a few things:

"Knowledge is unable to permeate the whole of his life, to penetrate the deepest reaches of his soul.(modified parallel sentence structure) Thus, basically a civilized, learned man is on par with an uncivilized and unlearned man. Striking fact is, that often the learned man is inferior to the unlearned man in situations where practical wisdom counts."

i think that flows a bit better, its just an example though, something just didnt sound right about getting permeated, its a different word than for example, to get punched.
There are several other grammatical errors that you should revise.

overall i think its a great short story i like, your theme, experience versus knowledge, superficiality vs depth. The title is very compelling, From surface to silence, beautiful, i would actually name one of my musical compositions that (perhaps a flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano ensemble).

I agree Silence is a state not cherished by many, but there one can hear the voice of wisdom whispering to the soul. profound thoughts.
Your last line sounds awkward, "Into the silence I have to dissolve..." I think you could make that line flow better with the rest of your work.
I like this piece a lot.
