Wishing Lanterns

Wishing Lanterns

A Poem by Kathleen Burlas

I was amazed by my sight
Wishing lanterns in the sky
Under the stars they fly
And in the darkness they glow

They lift my spirit high
I close my eyes and make a wish
With hope that in heaven
They'll send me my prize

My faith is at sake
As I pray for this wish
Somehow, someway
I'll wait for them to come

In these wishing lanterns
I found my place
Looking up to them
steals the rain away

Those wishing lanterns are what you see at the pic. They are used primarily during festivals. I wrote this poem because I was crying that I time and when I looked outside, I saw those wishing lanterns in the sky. Probably some neighbors flew it. Im referring rain to tears :)

So that's it :)

I'm guessing the wishing lanterns are meant to be stars? If so then I liked the way you described stars as wishing lanterns, it makes them seem all the more beautiful. I'm a bit confused about the last line, it didn't seem to go with the rest of the poem, almost just like a line put there to end it and not really holding any meaning.
I'm sorry, that's just the way I see it and I probably don't really understand it as I should.
Anyway, it's still quite a nice poem, beautiful, especially those wishing lanterns.
