Girl In the Mirror

Girl In the Mirror

A Poem by Kathleen Burlas

I stood and follow the light
There was this  girl
In the mirror she stands
With a face I can't tell

I looked away with fear
But when I glanced again
I can see her look at me
With innocence on her eyes

There's a girl in the mirror
I wonder who she really is
Sometimes I wish I know her
And the pain in those eyes

I can tell it in her looks
She's feeling so alone
Locked in her cage of fears
She's asking for sympathy

And now she's crying
The girl in the mirror is crying
Tears fall from her eyes
Like rain falling to the ground

I took a second look
Opened up my eyes
And with shocked eyes
I saw reality in me

The girl in the mirror
Is nothing but me
She's nothing but me
I'm the girl in the mirror
