Broken Strings

Broken Strings

A Poem by Kathleen Burlas

I had my fingers wounded
Strumming such guitar strings
No matter how hard I try
i just can't tune it right

As impatience strucked me
I had the strings broken
It let out a loud sound
That banged my inside soul

Touching those broken strings
I felt guilt pass my veins
Thinking of those sweet melodies
It could have made in peace

Its beauty has been lost
Silence filled the atmosphere
As I looked with such disgrace
I had my cold guitar
Lay with its broken strings
