Her Baby...A Poem by SM Davis
his face is blue all dreams of mom soon to come true
a child not much more than two climbs a ladder and walks on roof
he gets a screwdriver to dig in the dirt but the refrigerator door's on the floor under her skirt
a telephone from a hotel lays in pieces with a chord his favorite toy above all else in the corner his pirate's sword
school boy at the age of five charms the teachers one by one at age six he starts to thrive still mommy's baby son
sixth grade teacher temper flares mom in his face, the class just stares
High school comes by so fast before she knows it the years have passed
now he's away his country he serves her baby is grown all her love he deserves
a young man now responsibilities learned so far from home his life has turned
he's her son and always will be no greater love exists he'll be her baby
forever.
