Pre-Eminence

Pre-Eminence

A Poem by SM Davis

Exhuberance imposed on diminutive innocence

descends upon an adolescent soul as

vigorous experience articulated

mandates confounded comprehension

previous to its maturing faculties which

in turn, by defaulted perception,

accelerates behavior beyond

supportive sympathy

only to hold unyieldingly

to rigid and ominous severity

bringing undeserved acumen

to an otherwise understated

familiarity which brings with it

a crown.

Undeserved.

SM Davis
an adolescent is sprung into adulthood by way of experience that never should have been experienced that brings with it knowledge of that which any human should never be the wiser.

Amazing poem. You really captured the spirit (almost of disgust, it seems to me). Phenomenally well-written.

From the depths of hurt comes this. I know and you know I know what this is like. Beautifully captured picture of growing along unsafe branches.
