PASSIONA Poem by SM DavisThey say there is no greater passion than to give your life for another....Motherhood...in it's most glorious form...does that as well.I was you before I became myself. Your breath was my breath, Your heartbeat, my sustenance. You were my home, my warmth My essence and my life. Before I ever saw you I knew you. The sound of your voice Was my music The sway of your walk My dance. You were my world. It starts with you. From the moment… That first agonizing and exhilarating moment when I lay upon you naked In my new awareness… No longer comforted by Your warmth Or soothed by the sound Of your beating heart! My comfort and solace were gone. And then you spoke. The music that I longed for Once again filled my ears. That most glorious and symphonic Music! I knew I was home. Now that I am grown and Far removed from that day we first met, I know a passion differently designed. In various ways, perhaps, it has surrogated Those elementary needs. Times or moments occur, however, Where the void is so profound And so darkly shadowed that only The brightest of passions can fill it… And there is only ONE. It is that passion that is selflessly given A daughter… …from her MOM!!
