Deceived

Deceived

A Poem by SM Davis

Flowing like translucent water
over rocks smoothed by time
her words come to me

At first sight beauty is all I see
sparkling reflections catch my eye
entranced I step in

Caught by an unexpected tide
that rips under a smooth surface
Deception drags me away

my love belayed
my trust betrayed
my emotions frayed

...it's hard to lose a friend.

The smooth flow and delivery of this poem, heightens the impact of the final stanza on the reader. Never expecting that you're writing about the impact of losing a friend. A very hard subject to write about, yet done with class and style here. Thank you for sharing this painful poem with us.
