Maybe...

Maybe...

A Poem by SM Davis

I stand before a mirror
and let my silk robe fall
to the floor...

What do I see?

My fingertips trace
the lines of my face
and I see azure blues
that sparkle...

Tracing...

Stopping on the
scars I remove
my finger and
stare at the supple
breasts that have
been marked forever

Crying...

I continue looking
at this reflection
staring back at me
and I see that there
is beauty...

Again...

Softness touches
my waist and as my
hands come together
over the flatness of my
belly I see...

the beauty that love brings...

I fall to my knees
and my lips meet
the coolness of the

reflection looking back at me

I see that she is me
and finally I remember
that I love her

maybe another's hands
and eyes and lips

will love her too.

Wow this is a very personal poem. It reminds me of a poem I read by Carol Ann Duffy, which is no bad thing. Love does bring beauty. I have been beginning to realise the things in myself I see as flaws are what makes me perfect to another's eyes. NH

A very candid write on self-reflection.....like some of the others, I agree that while reading this, I got a sense of being there....wonderful imagery!

This makes me feel like I'm intruding on something very personal. It's such a beautiful thing to have this moment and this love for yourself. Very masterfully penned.

wow, a very beautiful and deep poem. i believe many women feel pluperfect and ugly. maybe we should all stand in front a mirror and see the beauty that we are. i really love this one, perhaps my favorite.

Great visual this paints. I can see it in my mind's eye so vividly and clear. I love the way you are able to allow me to journey through your imagination with your words and deliver a photo quality image for me to see. Always a pleasure to read your words. I like the scene here of a woman remembering what it is that she loves about herself.

Great JOb!!!!!

Oh so beautiful! I love it.
"the beauty that love brings..."
They say that love is blind, but love is not blind.
Love sees the soul of things.
They say that love is blind, but love is not blind.
Love has a vision that sings.

Love all, Mejasha

Astonishingly intimate piece of self-scrutiny and reavealed hope that there maybe love to come. Ach, I wonder if we ever really stop craving the touch of another? Great job.

This is really a great piece. I like this piece because there are so many women that need to read something like this for their own pick me up. Keep inspiring with this kind of writing!!!

Love doesn't see the flaws in someone. Only the beauty. Nice work
