It's The Thought The Counts

It's The Thought The Counts

A Poem by UnderTheDeadPoetTree

The shelf underneath her heart collapsed.
Her legs followed suit, as they so often do when we find ourselves
Confronted with the beautiful truth that had grown thorns in the shade.
Away from the light of day it fought for life and when it found it lacking,
Decided to bade farewell to niceties and instead become a present wrapped in
Barbs because it knew...oh it knew,
That you could not help but tear at the paper.
Yes, this truth once exposed cut deep and left marks
