Stranger's Mind

Stranger's Mind

A Poem by UnderTheDeadPoetTree

I once heard,
"If you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company"

I feel a stranger in my company.
A foreigner in his native land.
Son of no country.
All this done by his own hand.

I once thought,
"If you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company"

I bound my own hands behind my back.
I couldn't lose if I didn't fight.
You can't get burnt in the black.
So I become the silhouette in my own light.

I once told,
"If you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company"

How much do I trust my captor?
Surely I should know my own mind?
We wrapped eachother in barbed wire.
I tear at the binds.

I still think,
"If you're lonely when you're alone, you're in bad company"
