Stiller Waters

Stiller Waters

A Poem by UnderTheDeadPoetTree

Do you see me at the bus stop?
In the crowds at parades, in a glance?
I see you.
When my gaze lands on nothing in particular
And the world unfocuses.
When I look down at my hands I can't help but see yours in them.
You own my skin and thoughts.
Or rather, you stole them.
Or I gave them away.
You were the thief of all my sunny days.
You left me the night.
But even there you paint yourself in hues of black.
Along the walls and ceilings.
There are shadows in my mind and under my lids your portrait hangs.
I can't tell you this.
I left you your sunny daze.
Our sunny days.
I left the door to my heart unlocked for you.
I fear you'll steal more in future...
I hope.
