Outstanding In Your Own FieldA Poem by UnderTheDeadPoetTreeReach deep and stand tall
Green growth from ash.
Life is a practice in beauty from contrast. That some could struggle through the dark And emerge to salute the light and grow thick bark And seed the earth beneath their graceful arcs. Sure, they sway. They bend at the forces against them. But that they may stand strong, and inch deeper bit by bit, And stretch higher and the wind may lean into them. They will not fall. They have known cold soil and fed from it. They have tasted freezing water but drank deep and At night when all was dark they toiled silently. Carved their own place in the hard packed earth. Now in the place of once small saplings Stand mighty oak trees, in their own field, outstanding. Ogham shaped leaves dappling the ground beneath, Overtop their firmly planted wooden feet. I wish to be like those like oak trees. © 2017 UnderTheDeadPoetTree |
