The TorchbearersA Poem by UnderTheDeadPoetTree
You survive everything you encounter in life,
Until you don't. So be brash, be bold, take what is yours and never be told, That you can't do what you feel is right, To hold what you feel is yours to behold. Take with you all those you can, Lift high those that have fallen on harder times than you, Be the strength they don't have, be honest and true, For little in this life is as precious as a second chance. A lesson learned, a second take, another passing glance at a previous mistake. Never back down from something you feel is wrong, An oppressor can only oppress those that feel they cannot get up, When they are bowed and broken and times are tough, It is your duty to be their backbone. Inspire in others the power to light fires under each other. Be the torchbearers. Those that light again the strength to continue. This path of life is not easy but it is true, And we need not walk it alone. Shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand, Tall and proud, together we stand. © 2016 UnderTheDeadPoetTree |
