bearing witness.

bearing witness.

A Poem by Clark

I bear witness to the marriage of Anguish and Art

my tears smear the words of my smitten sonnet

as my heart strives the more for redemption.

I stand at this union as my soul wrenches out,

as it cries to let go of its torment.

        out comes the pain.

        out comes the poetry.

No objection spills forth as the happy are wed,

let me not there admit impediments.

though i die part by part, I continue--

forever i hold my peace.

As Anguish and Art exchange their vows,

another tear slides down my face.

Caused by Anguish, cured by Art.

United, forever after.
