Everyone will know my name from how magnificently it was put together! Isn't that just great! oh, and, uh...they will know you too, this is a party for you, of course.
Andrea- [sarcastically] Yes, thank you SO much for this wonderful party! [rolls her eyes at her mother]
Andrea's mama- [Smiles, oblivious at the eye rolling and sarcasm] Oh, your welcome dear! oh, look, there are the reporters! I'll go get my interview done! tootles! [walks over to center left and goes to talk to a woman with a microphone and a man with a camera]
Andrea- [sighs and crosses arms] Sometimes I think that mother cares more about her image and money than me, her only daughter and child. She couldn't even care enough to invite any of my friends! [Andrea walks over to an empty seat at a table downstage right and sighs angrily. Andrea's Mother and the reporters then walk to downstage as the stage goes dark, except for the one spotlight on them. Andrea watches everything.] Interviewer: Well, Mrs. Ri- Andrea's Mama- [interrupts]It's Ms. actually. Interviewer- Oh, I'm sorry! Ms. Rica Reyes. Well Ms.Reyes, I do believe that this magnificent party was put together by you, was it not? Ms. Reyes (Andrea's Mamma) -yes, yes it was! [smiles at the camera] I spent quite a lot of money on it, but it was all for my daughter, which I love and care about so much, so it was worth every hundred dollar bill. Interviewer- that's so sweet of you! good to know that even the rich care about their children so much. Ms. Reyes- yes, I care about my daughter so much! She's the only family I have left... [puts on a fake upset, -on-the-verge-of-tears face] Interviewer- aww! well, I hope your mother-daughter bond stays strong! Now, it has been rumored, that this party may be the biggest, most expensive bash in the country. It also has been this may be the party of the century. what do you think of that? Ms. Reyes- That would be wonderful! I think that it would be nice to know that my daughters party is so much of a success. Ms. Reyes- Oh any time.Thank you so much. [the lights come back on and the interviewer and her cameraman leave downstage and go off stage. Ms. Reyes goes to center right over to her daughter.] Andrea- *testily* what do you want mother?
