Midnight Dance

Midnight Dance

A Poem by Maya

We stole into the night
Like thieves in the darkness
With eyes so full of adventure
We joined the midnight dance-fest

We were lost in a wonderland
We the pirates of the night
We stormed we pillaged we wandered
We the pirates without a fright

Like Michelangelo we sculpted
The night was our malleable clay
We were the artists in the dark
Each of us a child out to play

The field was our old blank canvas
Arounds ourselves we built a town
Made of benches bricks stones and sticks
Like queens we all wore gold crowns
