The Siren

The Siren

A Poem by Jordan A. Wilson

Like the sweet Sirens’ song, her smile beckons me all day long.

With an oh so blinding hue, her hair shimmers like a sea of blue.

Into the abyss I fall when I gaze into her eyes.

When shall I realize?

Like the ocean’s breeze her voice tempts my ears with sweet nothings.

Her touch, soft like the clouds, casts off the very same moths that are drawn to her fire.

And now she takes me higher.

Her body gyrates in hypnotic fashion.

Her hips bend like the palm tree beneath the wind.

My head spins with her waist.

An insomniac I have become, unable to slumber in the presence of her flame.

Alas we are both to blame.

And now my journey draws to an end.

But as I approach my lady the fog disperses and the ground vanishes.

She is nowhere to be found.

Once again euphoria escapes me and I fall to the depths.

Oh, the irony of the Sirens’ song.
