No Drinks For Me Tonight

No Drinks For Me Tonight

A Poem by Jordan A. Wilson

...and these words,

possessed by the nefarious spirits of fermented elixir,

fell from the sky like acid rain.

The last time words fell from the sky I was in my early twenties and it had been about an hour and a half after letting six little off-white squares dissolve on my tongue, but I am being literal which I believe you are not.

I like this in the the sense that it is pretentious in the best way possible and it is short enough to pack a punch and not be overdone.

Beautiful phonetically and thematically. Nice concept. Words like lighter fluid, shifting shape? You've inspired me.

"fell from the sky like acid rain" is a great analogy comparing the destructiveness of the two things. Powerful, and a great poem. I love the "..." of the beginning since it makes it seem like then end of a long tirade, putting the finality upon it. Great piece!
