I spy

I spy

A Poem by slfisher89

"
You see a cluttered house
Junk of little purpose--strewn about
I spy memories--patchwork cloth sewn together
By-us-the thread
Overflowing grocery bags;
store trips-food creations-no stress, static
chilled collective
Discarded Newport boxes;
Fun, frantic wardrobe change-old spots visited
new adventures found-open road-limitless possiblities
Half-hidden leashes;
measure of an old friend-sprouts of a little one
I see no clutter;
Instead chapters of a family
Small, broken,
Yet, whole

Something of a stream of consciousness offering here as the speaker ponders reminiscences sparked by what others might call clutter. One gets the impression that times may not have been all good, but also that the essence of the family remains intact. It is of course the story of many families, not all of which remain whole. It could be worse.
