An important rule of writing is using past and present tense
Showing difference between past and present events
Also, applicable in conversation
My cousin is a teacher
Or
My uncle was a piano player
Makes sense with activities, careers, or occurrences
But, past and present tense
doesn't equate with life and death
Well, not completely
Death doesn't cancel birth
My grandmother is a pisces
