A Poem by slfisher89

Tabula Rasa
Blank slate
We are born
As we grow marks made by
Different hands
Plant knowledge from which
Understanding, perception, mortals,
And ethics spring
Along with these seeds come
Malice, ulterior motives, jealously, and
Deception. For you are a garden of good and evil. As knowledge fills the slate; purity erases. Pure is without contamination. For knowledge is double sided. Once you are no longer a tabula Rasa; can one be pure at heart?

I loved this. The imagery was striking and the double meaning of plant was amazing. How someone can plant knowledge but then you mention that we are a garden and of course gardens hold plants.

As we grow marks made by different hands was a fantastic line I absolutely loved this part. I think you are a great poet.

This is an excellent poem. I love works that show the dark side of knowledge, and this one is one of them. Keep it up!

Love,
Vasilees.

Guess, at some point, we have to learn to erase our own slates.
Perhaps, consciousness forms the body, not the other way around.
We may well, then, come into life with far more than "Tabula Rasa."
Still, "Question" is excellent work. And I find it most telling that you should clearly seek and deeply value purity of the heart.
Would that everyone were so motivated.
