inevitability of thoughts

inevitability of thoughts

A Poem by slfisher89

As long as my mind remains distracted

they don’t come;

As long as my body is active

they won’t come;

Only when I lay down

surround by solitude

and quietness

do they come.

Inner mask penetrates

hollow wall

and engulfs outer self.

The thoughts come to me from the past.

Events that I have buried in the mind’s graveyard arise.

Old questions that were never answered

confront me

I wish they could go away,

but they are a part of me

I hate them"

I love them

I am unsure what I feel for them.

most of the time, but they are mine.

So I treasure them.

The thing we all try to escape, or many of us anyway, is our thoughts and the truth they hold.
Well done, a good poem. Small typo in second last line. (timem)
