Alciabades

Alciabades

A Poem by Sleiman Azizi
"

These words are the opening poem to a Noh play I am writing.

"
Mankind's darkness is his own
Sleeping in dreams
Till the morning break.

Taken alone - not even considered as a part of a greater whole - a crushing weight of endless guilt and the need to accept responsibility is felt by/upon one person ...no whys or questioning - just an acceptance.

But will that feeling be maintained - I don't know.

'I can see clearly now the rain has gone' sing it !!!

Your words so few ring true, ring true ... and when the lights turn on there is no going back to those sleepy dreams ... x

This invitation comes with a question of what Mood does it create for me I need no invitation sure here we go:

I look into my own Darkness -
The unfolding reverie through the mist dances -
Through it light arises -
Living light that entices.
What was that darkness that enshrines as it realizes?
Was it my reality that felt embraced as it passed it?

That was the mood that inspired in me

Thankyou

Thanks for this.
Writing poetry for an English language Noh play is, to say the least, challenging. I'm not exactly sure how to review this poem other than to say that it is the opening poem to a Noh play that I am working on. The play is about the spiritual redemption, if you will, of Alciabades, an Athenian public figure in the days of Socrates. The poem, I am hoping, sets the mood of the play.
